Sports Massage is a type of massage designed for highly active people who engages in athletics. Engaging in sports is harsh on the body and can often lead to injuries in both short and long term. Sports Massage enhances performance and prolongs an athlete's career by preventing injuries, help reduce pains and swelling in the body, relax the mind, increase flexibility, and dramatically improve recovery rates. Sports Massage is also highly effective in aiding the rapid recovery of an athlete from an injury by encouraging greater kinesthetic awareness and in turn promoting the body's natural immune function.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of slow-progressive work of deep tissue, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don't get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that hydration is important to aid muscle and tissue recovery that's been released from the deep tissue work during the session.

Neuromuscular therapy is a system of massage techniques that were developed in the 1930's by Dr. Stanley Lief in England. It uses a holistic approach towards healing, releasing trigger points, emphasizing and stimulating the body's natural ability to heal itself. Neuromuscular therapy also enhances the function of joints and muscles, and accelerates the overall healing process by facilitating the release of endorphins.

It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as gliding, rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body relax and improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body (reversing the harmful effects of stress), enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility.

Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques (MAT) is a unique blend of myofascial release, osteopathic techniques, Golgi tendon work, articular stretching technique, and muscle energy techniques. Bones and joints are held together by soft tissue, which includes myofascia (muscle and fascia), ligaments and tendons.

MAT works to systematically release deep spinal muscles, ligaments and fibrotic joint capsules that torsion and compress spinal joints.

MAT uses contract-relax techniques to help the nervous system feel less threatened by what has been identified as a painful movement. Active pain-free therapy signals the brain that the previously painful movement is now safe. By doing this repeatedly, the nervous system will often start to disassociate the movement from the pain. In essence, the goal of MAT is to bring as much “good news” to the nervous system as possible. Although various MAT techniques are typically interwoven during a session, Master Myoskeletal or Certified Myoskeletal Therapists choose techniques appropriate for the needs of the individual client.
